Portrayal of Iago- Act 2 Sc. 3

In this scene, Iago is shown as a man who manipulates and backstabs others to further his own motives. He tries to ruin Cassio by getting him drunk, and a brawl ensues. In lines 40-46, Iago deliberately plots to get Cassio, who had previously mentioned his intolerance for alcohol. In lines 104-110, he shows a lack of confidence in Cassio in order to ruin his reputation further. He later claims that he doesn't want to "do offence to Michael Cassio," (line 203) but he exposes his role in the brawl shortly thereafter in a sly and betraying move.
